About Junction Australia
Junction is a not-for-profit social enterprise supporting vulnerable South Australians through housing and community services - from foster care and residential care through to homelessness and domestic violence support. We also run two community centres with a focus on early intervention programs for individuals and families. We now help around 10,000 South Australians each year to not just survive, but thrive in life.
As an organisation, we promote environmental sustainability by: expanding recycling efforts; offsetting carbon emissions from our fleet vehicles; installing energy efficient lighting and computers; and encouraging efficient use of water, energy and other resources.
Recognising the significant impact of the urban ‘heat island’ effect, we ensure our new builds do not require excessive amounts of artificial heating and cooling. This also has huge benefits for the hip-pockets of people in our housing. Additionally, we seek to cool the urban environment with plantings wherever possible in our developments.
